Hello, Mighty Money Manager! This week, we’re going to talk about something super important: saving money! Have you ever heard of the saying, "A penny saved is a penny earned"? It means that when you save money instead of spending it all, you can use it for something special later on!
The Wisdom of Proverbs 21:20
In the Bible, there’s a verse, Proverbs 21:20, that says, “The wise store up choice food and olive oil, but fools gulp theirs down.” What does this mean?
Let’s break it down! 1. Wise vs. Foolish Choices - Wise people save their money and resources, which helps them in the long run. Picture a squirrel that gathers nuts and saves them for winter! - Foolish people spend everything right away without thinking. Imagine a kid who buys lots of candy and then has nothing left over when they want to buy a new toy!
2. Saving for the Future: - Just like the squirrel, when you save your allowance or birthday money, you're preparing for something special later. Maybe you're saving for a new bike, a cool video game, or even a trip to the amusement park!
Fun Activity: The Savings Jar! Let’s get started on our savings journey! Here’s a fun way to begin saving like a wise person: You Will Need: - An empty jar or container - Some stickers or markers to decorate - Your allowance or any coins/money you find.
How to Do It: -Decorate Your Jar: Make your jar look awesome! Draw on it or stick on stickers that inspire you to save.
Set a Goal: Think about what you want to save up for. Write it down and put it next to your jar. It could be for a toy, a game, or anything you dream of having!
Start Saving: Every week, try to put a little bit of your allowance into your jar. You can also add any extra change you find.
Share Your Journey! Tell your friends and family about your savings goal! You can even ask them to help you by contributing their spare change. The more, the merrier! When you reach your goal, celebrate by doing something fun with your family or treating yourself to that special item.
Remember! Just like it says in Proverbs 21:20, being wise with your resources means planning for the future, making choices that help you grow, and having something stored up for when you really need it.
Congratulations! So, are you ready to be a money-smart kid? Start saving today, and remember, the choices you make today can help you have even more fun tomorrow!
