The Money Trap: Learning from 1 Timothy 6:10!
Hey there, Money Explorers! Welcome back to our Money Matters blog! Today, we’re
diving into a super important topic that affects all of us—money! Have you ever noticed
how some people seem to think money can solve all their problems? Well, we’re going
to talk about why that might not be true, using a verse from the Bible!
What Does 1 Timothy 6:10 Say?
The Bible verse 1 Timothy 6:10 tells us, “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of
evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced
themselves with many griefs.”
Let’s break this down together!
1. Love of Money: - The verse doesn’t say that money itself is bad; it talks about the
love of money. That means when people care more about money than anything else, it
can lead to trouble. Imagine if someone only cared about getting the latest video game
and forgot to hang out with friends or help others. Not cool, right?
2. Roots of Trouble: - Think of the love of money as a tree with roots that dig deep. If we
focus too much on making and spending money, we can end up in all sorts of messy
situations—like being selfish or forgetting what’s truly important in life.
Understanding Our Choices
Everyday choices about money can have a big effect on our lives. Should we spend our
allowance on that cool new toy or save it for something special? This is a chance to
practice being smart with our money.
Fun Activity: The Money Value Scale!
Here’s a fun activity that can help you understand the concept of money values!
You Need: - A piece of paper - A ruler or something to make a scale - Colored pencils or
markers
How to Do It:
1. Draw a Scale: On your paper, draw a big scale with two sides. Label one side
"Money" and the other side "Values."
2. List Items: On the "Money" side, write down things you might want to buy (toys,
candy, video games). On the "Values" side, write down important things like family,
friends, kindness, and happiness.
3. Balance It Out: Think about which side is heavier. Is it the money side, or the values
side? Discuss with a parent or friend why it’s important to focus more on what we value
than just wanting more money.

The Power of Giving!
One of the best ways to keep from loving money too much is to share! When we give to
others—whether it’s helping a friend or donating to a charity—we focus on what really
makes us happy: being kind and helping out.
Remember!
1 Timothy 6:10 teaches us that while money is necessary, loving it too much can lead to
negative things. It’s super important to strike a balance and remember what really
matters in life—friendship, kindness, and love.
Conclusion
So, the next time you think about spending or saving your money, ask yourself:
“Is this just for me, or can I do something kind with it?
By doing this, you’ll be a smart and generous Money Explorer!
